Job Description
PRIMARY AUTHORITY AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Follow directions and meet the expectations of the supervising teacher/specialist/administrator
- Be familiar with student IEPs and able to implement specialized instruction as well as social-emotional and behavioral strategies under the direct supervision of the special education teacher/specialist
- Implement de-escalation strategies, behavior plans, and collect behavior data with the training and support of the special education teacher and staff
- Be child-centered
- Collaborate and communicate regularly with teachers/supervisors/specialists as requested by the supervising teacher
- Maintain student confidentiality at work and after hours at all times
- Understand the range of disabilities within a classroom and ask for information if particular disabilities are not understood
- Carry out other related special education duties as may be assigned by their supervisor(s), which may include toileting and other ADL skills
