Job summary

Consumers Energy seeks an Automotive & Equipment Mechanic for our Hamilton Service Center in Hamilton, MI. This union, second-shift role requires a minimum of 40 hours per week in a 24/7 operation and involves extensive mechanical work on vehicles and equipment.

You will inspect and repair hydraulic and braking systems, tune engines, and perform various diagnostic tasks in a challenging plant environment with exposure to heat and noise. A CDL-X and FMCSA screening support field readiness.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED with hands-on heavy machinery experience.
• Must pass controlled substances and alcohol test and FMCSA background screen.
• Must obtain CDL-X within 89 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Inspect, diagnose, adjust and repair hydraulic, braking, engine and electrical systems.
• Tune engines using analyzers and diagnose front-end suspension issues.
• Repair cylinders, booms, buckets, and vehicle bodies; perform aerial device inspections.
• Occasional overtime, night, weekend, and holiday work as storms or emergencies require.
• Log plant status and communicate with team; follow safety standards.
