Job summary

Consumers Energy, a CMS Energy subsidiary, is hiring an Automotive & Equipment (A/E) Mechanic for the Saginaw Service Center. The role involves servicing vehicles and plant equipment, diagnosing hydraulic and pneumatic systems, and performing engine tuning with analyzers.

The position requires 2+ years of heavy machinery experience, a high school diploma, and the ability to obtain a CDL-X within 89 days. Union shop with 40 hours/week and 24/7 operations.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED with 2+ years of hands-on experience as an A/E Mechanic or similar with heavy machinery.
• Applicant must pass a controlled substances/alcohol test and may undergo FMCSA background checks.
• Candidate must obtain a CDL-X within 89 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Inspect, diagnose, and repair hydraulic, air conditioning, brake, and electrical systems.
• Tune engines using analyzers and diagnose suspension systems.
• Repair cylinder heads and perform minor repairs to booms, buckets, and vehicle bodies.
• Perform inspections of man lift and aerial devices; assist in hazardous material handling as needed.
• Possibly work irregular hours, nights, weekends, or holidays for storms or emergencies.
