Louisville Metro Government is seeking a 911 Telecommunicator Trainee to start in an eight-week academy in Louisville, with daytime hours and on-the-job training to follow. Trainees progress toward Communications Specialist I or II after successful completion, with a probationary period and rotating shifts across a 24/7 operation.

The role requires passing multiple exams, a background check, drug screening, polygraph, and a criminal history check.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• US Citizen required.
• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Pre-employment polygraph and background checks may be required.
• Pre-employment drug screening and audiogram tests required.

Responsibilities

• Attend a 911 Telecommunicator training program.
• Participate in exams and evaluations to determine suitability for Communications Specialist I/II roles.
• Learn Call Classification, Caller Management, CAD, CJIS, EMD protocols & dispatch techniques.
• Complete job shadowing and on-the-job training during the academy and probationary period.
