Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED equivalent.
• Pass CJIS fingerprint-based background check and maintain CJIS eligibility.
• Meet minimum requirements established by TCOLE for Telecommunicators.
• United States citizens or naturalized citizens.

Responsibilities

• Answer the 911 universal emergency telephone number in the Police Department.
• Determine the nature of the emergency and enter data into the computer system.
• Route emergency calls to the proper governmental agency.
• Assist Police Officers in obtaining services.
• Determine classification of service requests and jurisdiction.
• Maintain a calm response to all emergency situations.
