Job summary

Aerotek in Evansville, IN is seeking a Process Technician (Injection Molding) for a 2nd/3rd shift contract role. You will set up, optimize, and troubleshoot plastic injection molding processes on a fast-paced manufacturing line, working with molding machines, hot runners, robotics, and material feed systems.

Responsibilities include process monitoring, part defect diagnosis, mold changes, parameter tuning, and collaboration with engineering and quality teams to drive continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum 3 years in injection molding with troubleshooting and process optimization.
• Experience with hot runner systems and mold setup.
• Ability to read technical drawings and process documentation.
• Experience troubleshooting molding defects (flash, short shots, sinks).

Responsibilities

• Set up, start, and monitor injection molding machines and auxiliary equipment to meet production requirements.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot process issues, including part defects, machine malfunctions, and hot runner system failures.
• Perform mold changes, machine adjustments, and parameter tuning to maintain quality and efficiency.
• Collaborate with engineering and quality teams to implement process improvements and corrective actions.
• Maintain accurate documentation of process settings, changes, and maintenance activities.
• Conduct root cause analysis on recurring process and mold issues and implement permanent corrective actions.
• Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and production standards at all times.
• Train operators and junior technicians on machine operation, troubleshooting techniques, and safe work practices.
• Troubleshoot molding process issues such as flash, short shots, sinks, splay, and other defects.
• Assist in mold changes and setups within scheduled mold change timeframes.
• Program molding work cell robot arms and assembly station equipment as required.
• Change out, purge, and maintain material and central feed systems as needed.
• Coordinate mold setup activities with production schedules to minimize downtime.
