Job summary

IDEA Public Schools is seeking a dedicated IDEA Academy teacher in Midland, TX to implement state standards, deliver rigorous instruction, and monitor student progress.

The role requires a Bachelor’s degree, K-12 teaching experience, and appropriate certifications. You’ll contribute to a strong school culture, participate in ongoing professional development, and receive stipends for certifications and leadership roles.

Qualifications

• High level of content-area proficiency evidenced by teaching certification, field of study, or work-experience (strongly preferred).
• Education: Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited four-year educational institution (required).
• Experience: Experience in a K-12 classroom setting (strongly preferred).
• Licenses or Certifications: Reading Academies certification for K-3 or willingness to obtain TX training; bilingual and ESL certifications preferred (not required).
• Knowledge of core academic subject assigned and ability to pass an IDEA content assessment.
• Knowledge of curriculum and instruction.
• Ability to instruct students and manage student behavior.
• Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to adjust and adapt to a multitude of situations in the school environment.

Responsibilities

• Implement state learning standards and IDEA curricula and assessments to meet ambitious academic expectations.
• Submit weekly lesson plans two weeks in advance for feedback.
• Implement formal and informal assessments to track each student’s progress and adjust lesson plans accordingly.
• Communicate students’ progress with students and families on a weekly basis.
• Use technology effectively as a communication and educational tool.
• Establish and maintain a clear behavior management system aligned with campus initiatives.
• Help shape a school-wide culture that fosters a productive and enthusiastic learning environment.
• Build cooperative relationships with students and families based on trust and respect.
• Host tutoring sessions to meet all students’ needs.
• Participate in weekly manager check-ins, grade-level meetings, and school-wide activities.
• Engage in ongoing professional development and dedicate 40+ hours per week on-site.
