Valmont in El Dorado, KS is hiring a Submerged Arc Seam Welder for the 2nd shift (4:00pm–2:30am, Wed–Sat). The role requires completing welding tests, reading blueprints, and setting up seams on pole shafts with flux-core equipment.

You will plan layouts from specifications, adjust amperage/voltage, and perform routine maintenance. The position emphasizes safety, quality, teamwork, and meeting production targets.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• Trade school welding training or certification preferred.
• Knowledge of welding properties of metals.
• Ability to read blueprints and shop drawings.
• Capability to lift up to 50 lb and use PPE.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate the flux core sub-arc seam welder to create continuous welds.
• Plan work from blueprints and shop drawings.
• Adjust welding parameters and fixturing.
• Work in multiple positions while maintaining safety and quality.
• Move components with an overhead crane and prepare materials.
• Perform routine equipment maintenance and basic calculations.
