Job summary

Valmont Industries, Inc. is seeking a Seam Welder Operator for 2nd shift (3:00 p.m.–11:00 p.m.) or 3rd shift (11:00 p.m.–7:00 a.m.) to weld steel shaft seams with a Sub Arc seam welder. You load shafts, adjust parameters, and ensure weld quality.

The role requires 3+ years of welding experience, the ability to read blueprints, and safety diligence. You may operate an overhead crane or forklift, inspect material quality, and assist in other production areas when the machine is idle.

Qualifications

• No degree required
• Minimum of 3+ years relevant experience
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, with most frequent lift up to 20 pounds
• Read blue prints
• Use tape measure
• Valmont trained and certified in forklift operation
• Must have safety awareness at all times
• One year of welding experience (highly qualified)
• Experience with PLC controlled machinery (highly qualified)
• AWS certified welder operator for SAW and GMAW (highly qualified)

Responsibilities

• Load steel shafts into Sub Arc Seam Welder
• Machine weld the entire seam of steel shaft to make a pole
• Monitor the quality of incoming steel shafts and determine material quality
• Operate a straightener to straighten shafts after welding
• Read and interpret blue prints and specifications for welding scheduled work
