Job summary

Valmont Industries is seeking a Seam Welder Operator in Valley, Nebraska. This role operates the Sub Arc Seam Welder to weld steel shafts, loading with a conveyor or overhead crane and adjusting welding parameters to produce a pole.

You will monitor material quality and may assist with overhead crane or forklift duties when needed. Qualified candidates typically have 3+ years welding experience, can read blueprints and tape measure proficiently, and can pass AWS SAW/GMAW qualification tests.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 3+ years relevant experience.
• The ability to lift up to 50 pounds, with most frequent lift up to 20 pounds.
• Read blueprints.
• Ability to use tape measure.
• Ability to be Valmont trained and certified in operation of forklift.
• Must have a high awareness for safety at all times.
• AWS welder operator qualification for SAW and GMAW is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Load steel shafts into Sub Arc Seam Welder.
• Machine weld the entire seam of steel shaft to make a pole.
• Monitor the quality of incoming steel shafts and determine material suitability.
• Operate a straightener to straighten shafts after welding.
• Use precision measuring instruments to verify conformance to specs.
