Job summary

Tufts Medicine is seeking a Patient Access Registrar for on-site work at Lowell General Hospital - Main Campus. The role involves interviewing patients, collecting demographic and financial data, and performing pre-service financial clearance for scheduled visits.

The position requires a high school diploma and at least 1 year of customer service experience in a hospital, medical office, or insurance setting.

Qualifications

• 1 year of experience in a customer service setting, hospital registration, medical offices, or insurance preferred.
• Proficient computer skills and ability to learn EHR systems.
• Strong interpersonal and telephone communication abilities.

Responsibilities

• Pre-Registration tasks for inpatients and outpatients including collecting demographic, financial, and clinical information.
• Obtain consent for treatments and explain signature requirements.
• Verify insurance coverage and eligibility and attach plan codes.
• Collect auto or workers’ comp information when applicable and document gaps.
• Inform patients of financial liabilities and payment responsibilities.
• Assist with time-of-service collections and accept various payment methods.
• Post payments and ensure accuracy in the system.
• Provide financial counseling information to eligible patients.
• Obtain necessary authorizations, pre-certifications, referrals, and notifications.
• Deliver excellent customer service and maintain professional interactions with staff and patients.
• Maintain HIPAA-compliant handling of patient information.
• Meet productivity and customer service benchmarks.
