Job summary

Fisher Dynamics is seeking a Die Maker for the second shift at our Sterling Heights, MI facility. The role focuses on fabrication, repair and maintenance of progressive dies, with duties including die maintenance, repairs, data logging, and crane operation.

Qualified candidates typically have journeyman status in Tool & Die making (preferred) and 8 years of experience, strong mechanical ability, knowledge of ISO14001/IATF 16949, and proficiency with metrology and machining processes.

Qualifications

• Journeyman status as a Tool & Die Maker preferred but not required
• 8 years of experience
• Knowledge of ISO14001/IATF 16949
• Strong mechanical ability and problem-solving skills
• Ability to read Die assembly prints and detail prints
• Ability to complete entire machining detail process and form grinding
• Knowledge of speeds and feeds and machine offsets
• Communication skills to interact with employees and suppliers
• Computer skills and math skills for department tasks
• Ability to work effectively with people

Responsibilities

• Perform die maintenance, using tool room equipment and hand tools
• Fabricate and/or repair dies for production
• Complete in and out of press repairs and tooling pm as scheduled
• Document and record various data for the department
• Drive a hi-lo and/or operate crane to transport dies for maintenance or installation
• Read Die assembly prints and detail prints, troubleshoot die issues, and suggest improvements
• Complete entire machining detail process and form grinding
• Set trim punches and pierce punches
• Set form punches and ariel cams
• Train die repair personnel as needed
