Job summary

Waubonsee Community College seeks a Custodian for the 2nd shift at the Sugar Grove Campus to support daily operations, events, and campus safety. The role reports to the Shift Lead Custodian and Facilities Supervisors.

Responsibilities include cleaning, furniture moves, supply monitoring, and handling emergencies. Requires lifting ability and a valid driver's license. Schedule is 40 hours/week, Mon-Thu 2:30pm–11pm, Fri 1:30pm–10pm.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Two years’ custodial or maintenance experience.
• Physical ability to lift 35 pounds.
• Valid driver’s license with clean driving record.
• Ability to communicate effectively with students, faculty, staff, and visitors.
• Ability to make work-related decisions without immediate supervision.
• Ability to work flexible hours for special functions at college facilities.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and maintain cleanliness of facilities at the campus in a manner that presents the best image of the college.
• Coordinate and complete furniture moves and event set-ups as required.
• Monitor custodial supply inventory and request additional stock as required and keep inventory neat and orderly.
• Coordinate extra cleaning/set-ups as required due to special needs.
• Perform cleaning tasks to cover missing staff, unusual conditions, and emergencies.
• Handle emergencies during the shift to minimize damage and inform supervisors.
• Identify and report maintenance problems to supervisors.
• Perform snow removal as needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
