Job summary

College of Lake County is seeking a Custodian for the 2nd shift at the Southlake Campus. Work hours are Monday to Friday, 3:00 p.m. – 11:00 p.m., with a shift differential of $0.50 per hour.

The role involves cleaning buildings, maintaining restrooms and common areas, assisting with room setups and snow removal, and operating standard custodial equipment. Candidates should be dependable and able to work with a diverse community.

Qualifications

• A high school diploma, or equivalent required.
• Ability to push, carry, lift up to 70 lbs. regularly, and over 70 lbs. occasionally with or without reasonable accommodations.
• Proven ability to work effectively with persons of diverse cultures, language groups, and abilities; experience working with diverse student, faculty, and staff backgrounds.

Responsibilities

• Cleans interior and exterior of all buildings, including sweeping, vacuuming, mopping, buffing, dusting, washing windows and light diffusers.
• Maintains cleanliness of entrance areas, restrooms, offices, lounges, lunchrooms, corridors; empties waste receptacles.
• Assists in snow removal, room setups, furniture moves, and stage set-ups.
• Operates custodial equipment such as vacuum cleaners and floor scrubbers; ensures safety and efficiency.
• Upholds College values, supports goals and initiatives, and communicates with customers to foster student success.
