Job summary

Arizona Public Service seeks a Renewable Operations Center Operator to coordinate day-to-day activities for a portfolio of renewable facilities including solar, energy storage, and micro-grid installations. You will monitor real-time performance, identify alarm conditions, and implement responses to protect safety and reliability from a 24/7 control room.

The role requires an Associate degree or equivalent experience in power/tech fields, with 2+ years in solar or generation plant operations.

Qualifications

• Two-year associate degree in electric power, electronics, mechanics or hydraulics.
• Plus two years of solar and/or generation plant maintenance, construction and/or operations experience.
• In lieu of Associates degree, combination of college coursework and/or experience in solar and/or generation plant maintenance, construction and/or operations positions equaling four years.
• Technical knowledge of Solar, Energy Storage, Wind, Micro-grid, Generation, electrical and SCADA systems.
• Technical knowledge in analyzing equipment performance and identifying performance issues using software tools.
• Ability to work rotating shifts.
• Experience working with SCADA systems and work management systems (e.g., Maximo).
• Experience using Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook.

Responsibilities

• Operates and monitors a diverse portfolio of renewable generating facilities in a 24/7 control center.
• Identify and respond to alarm conditions to protect safety and production.
• Maintain logs and coordinate with Transmission Provider, Scheduling entity and others.
• Create work orders in Maximo and document control actions.
• Ensure safety procedures and NFPA/OSHA guidelines are followed during switching operations.
