Job summary

The Planet Group seeks an experienced Operations Control Center (OCC) Manager to lead a 24/7 control center for real-time renewable energy operations. This role drives OCC operations, multi-shift management, compliance, performance improvement, customer relationships, and strategic direction.

Ideal candidates have 10+ years in real-time control rooms, 5+ years of management, and hands-on experience with high-voltage and renewable facilities, plus solid knowledge of NERC regulations and RTOs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Business Management or Engineering (or related field).
• 10+ years of real‑time control room experience, preferably in renewable energy.
• 5+ years of management experience.
• Experience in electrical generation operations — thermal, hydro, and/or renewables.
• Hands‑on experience with high‑voltage, transmission or collection systems.
• Experience with solar, wind and/or energy storage facilities.
• Strong knowledge of RTOs, system operators, NERC regulations, and utility electrical generation operations.
• Demonstrated experience improving operational processes and department performance.

Responsibilities

• Lead and oversee daily 24/7 OCC operations and shift scheduling.
• Establish OCC strategy, goals, policies, and procedures.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory, contractual, and customer requirements.
• Oversee operational KPIs and control room service delivery.
• Manage staffing, hiring, performance management, scheduling, and team development.
• Lead operator onboarding, qualifications, and ongoing training programs.
• Drive continuous improvement across people, processes, and technology.
• Identify opportunities to automate and improve OCC processes.
• Collaborate with OT, NERC Compliance, IT, Generation, Field Sites, and other internal teams.
• Build strong relationships with customers, site teams, and internal/external stakeholders.
• Manage OCC contracts, profitability, customer satisfaction, and budget.
