Job summary

Arizona Public Service (APS) is seeking a Renewable Operations Center Operator to monitor and control a diverse portfolio of renewable generation from a 24/7 control center.

In this role you will respond to alarms, log actions, and coordinate with field staff to maintain safe, reliable energy delivery while supporting 24/7 operations. The position requires technical knowledge of solar, energy storage and grid systems and flexibility to work rotating shifts.

Qualifications

• Two-year Associates degree in an applicable technology area (e.g., electric power, electronics, mechanics or hydraulics).
• Plus two years of solar and/or generation plant maintenance, construction and/or operations experience.
• In lieu of Associates degree, combination of college coursework and/or experience in solar and/or generation plant maintenance, construction and/or operations positions equaling four (4) years.
• Technical knowledge of general plant and system processes (Solar, Energy Storage, Wind, Micro-grid, Generation), electrical and SCADA systems.
• Ability to work rotating shifts.

Responsibilities

• Performs system monitoring to anticipate and mitigate issues and alarms that may risk safety or production.
• Reports capacity in real-time; logs outages and updates for turnover.
• Operates multiple plant control system technologies and collaborates with field staff to develop solutions.
• Initiates alarm responses and notifies Transmission Providers and others as required.
• Ensures safety and proper isolation procedures during switching operations and reviews procedures.
