Job summary

National Public Safety Careers is seeking dedicated 911 Call Takers to join a Lafayette, IN operation. You will answer emergency and nonemergency lines, verify incident locations, and document essential details for responders in a fast-paced environment.

Successful candidates will undergo background checks, complete call-taking training, and earn required certifications as they support 24/7 operations with rotating shifts. Prior dispatch or customer service experience is a plus.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or recognized equivalent.
• Customer service, telephone support or public safety experience is helpful but not required.
• Strong listening comprehension, accurate typing, and clear verbal communication are essential.

Responsibilities

• Answer incoming emergency calls and assigned nonemergency lines.
• Confirm incident location and caller’s callback information.
• Use approved questions to identify nature and urgency of the situation.
• Enter accurate details into call-processing or dispatch software.
• Forward incident information promptly to the appropriate dispatch function.
• Provide authorized pre-arrival instructions only within training and certification.
