  • Location: New Ulm, MN - Home of the Velveeta!

What’s on the menu?

Under the direction of the Maintenance Manager, the Maintenance Planner is responsible for planning and coordinating maintenance efforts within the Velveeta production area. The ideal candidate will serve as a resource to the Process Owner, other technicians, and the Maintenance Manager regarding maintenance issues, including capital projects. Responsibilities include planning and scheduling maintenance work for all trade groups, and identifying and ordering key materials to complete jobs.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Delegate and assign work orders and PMs within the area as needed.
  • Serve as the KHMS Maintenance Lead for assigned area(s) and lead RCFA efforts inside the production area.
  • Participate in KHMS initiatives such as attending/leading L2 & DPM meetings, 5S/CIL/CLM initiatives, and assist in KHMS training implementations.
  • Provide high-quality service to customers and improve maintenance team performance.
  • Build, audit, correct, and standardize PM procedures in the SAP system.
  • Audit and resolve part-stocking issues with MRO, and identify necessary parts/updates on PMs.
  • Collaborate with vendors for cost analysis.
  • Champion computerized maintenance systems and provide training when needed (e.g., SAP, CWP).
  • Monitor and drive KPIs.
  • Assist in maintenance activities, continuous improvement ideas, and problem-solving.
  • Own the equipment planning/PM process within the production area.
  • Coordinate with logistics and manufacturing to schedule resources when equipment is not in use.
  • Participate in a 7-week rotation covering Saturday setup work.
  • Lead daily huddles with Line Tech staff and Process Owners.
Qualifications:
  • At least two years of maintenance experience with a strong background.
  • Basic computer skills and good organizational skills.
  • Knowledge of plant maintenance systems (electrical, mechanical, refrigeration, etc.) and willingness to learn new systems.
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Ability to lead and prioritize multiple complex tasks.
  • Understanding of scheduling processes aligned with business needs.
Safety/Lifting Requirements:

Moderate: Ability to handle medium-weight materials; 50 lbs. frequently and up to 100 lbs. infrequently.
