Job summary

Tacoma Public Schools in Tacoma, WA is seeking a 1:1 paraeducator for a 7th grade student in a self-contained classroom. This 0.8125 FTE position (6.5 hours per day) offers the district’s full benefits package and wages aligned to PA4 steps with education-based progression.

The role requires completion of the General Paraeducator Certificate, 28 hours of district training, and adherence to district policies. Prior experience with students with disabilities is a plus.

Qualifications

• This 1:1 paraeducator position requires completing and attaining the General Paraeducator Certificate.
• District training includes 28 hours of Fundamental Course of Study within specified timelines.
• Experience assisting students with disabilities is valued.

Responsibilities

• Assist a certificated teacher with instructional and personal care needs for students with disabilities.
• Provide academic interventions and support daily living activities as needed.
• Supervise and assist during transitions, meals, and recreation times.
• Record data on student progress and communicate with teachers and families as assigned.
