Job summary

Seattle Public Schools is seeking a Special Education Assistant/ISE-203 to support a 1-1 student in an extended resource service pathway. You will assist in implementing instruction plans, monitor behavior, and attend IEP meetings, ensuring a safe and productive learning environment.

The role involves collaborating with teachers and families, adapting materials, and providing basic care support to students with medical needs, while maintaining records and participating in ongoing professional

Qualifications

• Requires high school diploma or equivalent; Education Testing Service paraeducator assessment OR associate degree OR 72 quarter credits / 48 semester credits OR completed paraeducator apprenticeship.

Responsibilities

• Adapt classroom activities and materials under teacher direction to help all special education students participate.
• Administer materials and assignments to assist teacher in evaluating progress and organizing individual needs.
• Provide first aid and medical assistance as required to care for injured children.
• Assist students with personal care needs due to medical conditions or physical limitations.
• Attend meetings and in-service trainings to gain and share information relevant to job functions.
• Confer with teachers and parents to communicate student progress and implement IEP objectives.
• Direct and implement behavioral plans for students with behavior disorders to ensure safety and consistency.
• Instruct students individually and in groups to reinforce instructional objectives and remediation goals.
• Maintain instructional materials and student records; update and organize as needed.
• Monitor student behavior in various school environments to promote safety and a positive learning environment.
