Job summary

Tacoma Public Schools seeks a 1:1 Paraeducator for a 6th grade student in a self-contained classroom. The role requires completion of the General Paraeducator Certificate and 28 hours of district training within defined timelines.

You will provide instructional and personal care support for students with a broad range of disabilities, assist with daily living activities, collect data, and collaborate with teachers.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or 72 credit hours, ability to assist in instruction.
• Completion of General Paraeducator Certificate required.
• One year of experience with students who have special needs can be beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Provide instruction to students individually or in small groups.
• Assist with daily living activities and medical/therapeutic needs as needed.
• Supervise students during recess, lunch, and bus loading/unloading.
• Record student progress and communicate with teachers and parents.
• Assist in administering tests and adapt materials as directed.
