Job summary

Tacoma Public Schools in Washington state seeks an Education Support Professional/Paraeducator to assist a certificated teacher with students with disabilities. Work includes instructional support, personal care tasks, and supervision across the school day.

Requires completion of the General Paraeducator Certificate, 28 hours of district training, and ability to work with a diverse student population. 12-month support staff schedule with 183 work days.

Qualifications

• Requires General Paraeducator Certificate or equivalent.
• 28 hours of district-provided training within specified timelines.
• Ability to assist students with a broad range of disabilities.

Responsibilities

• Provide instruction to students individually or in small groups.
• Assist with activities of daily living and personal care as directed.
• Supervise students during recess, lunch, and transitions.
• Record progress and communicate with teachers and families as needed.
• Adapt materials and support teacher instruction as required.
• Assist with transportation and field trips when assigned.
• Support classroom management and behavioral plans as directed.
• Help with testing and data collection as part of student progress tracking.
