Job summary

Vancouver Public Schools in Washington state is seeking a Special Program Paraeducator 1 for an intensive academic classroom. This is a one-on-one support role, 6.5 hours per day, 9 months per year, non-exempt under FLSA.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; additional education preferred.
• Associate's degree credits or 72 quarter / 48 semester credits or ETS ParaPro score 461+.

Responsibilities

• Assist the teacher in implementing and evaluating goals and objectives for individual students.
• Provide instructional assistance in small groups or one-on-one settings.
• De‑escalate students having an emotional/behavioral crisis and follow district behavior plans.
• Assist with data entry, record keeping, and filing as directed.
• Observe students and report observations to appropriate staff to ensure safety.
• Support students with personal hygiene, health-related needs, and mobility as required.
• Carry out duties such as assisting with transportation on and off buses and classroom routines.
