Job summary

Tacoma Public Schools in Washington state seeks a paraeducator to support a Grade 6 student with a disability during the school day. You will assist a certificated teacher with instructional and personal care tasks and help the student access the curriculum.

The role requires completing the General Paraeducator Certificate and district PD; start on September 28, 2026. The position is 0.8125 FTE, 6.5 hours/day, on campus with a 30-minute lunch.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or 72 credit hours; ability to assist in instruction.
• One year of experience working with students who have disabilities.

Responsibilities

• Provides instruction to students individually or in small groups as directed; assists with learning activities.
• Assists students with self-care activities and daily living tasks as needed.
• Supervises students during recess and lunch, and in transit activities as required.
• Records progress and communicates with teachers and parents; maintains student data and reports.
• May assist with adaptive equipment, seating, and basic sign language.
