Job summary

Marysville School District is seeking a paraprofessional to assist students in Behavior Intervention Programs under certificated staff supervision. The role focuses on supporting learning environments with behavior-focused placement, de-escalation efforts, and student reintegration.

Qualified candidates will have a high school diploma, required certifications, and ability to assist in crisis situations. In-district applicants receive priority consideration and training opportunities are provided.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Official transcripts showing 72 quarter credits or an associate degree, or Paraprofessional Assessment with score 455+.
• Paraprofessional Assessment information from NWESD and Prometric site.
• Completion of 14 hours Fundamental Course of Study training in first year.
• Completion of 70 additional hours PD within 3 years for General Paraeducator Certificate.
• Ability to stoop, crouch, crawl, bend, kneel, stand for long periods.
• May involve diapering, toileting, feeding of special needs students.
• Ability to assist in de-escalation and physical intervention when needed.
• Ability to lift up to 40 pounds and assist with Emergency Response protocols.
• First Aid & CPR and Right Response training to be maintained.
• Course verification of basic ABA knowledge and Behavior Intervention Plans.

Responsibilities

• Assist Behavior Program students one-to-one, in small groups, and in integrated settings.
• Help students manage conflict and reintegrate successfully.
• Assist teachers in preparing and delivering materials for individual learning needs.
• Support gross and fine motor strengthening activities.
• Assist with speech/language communication.
• Assist in recreational, playground or PE activities.
• Coordinate with teachers regularly.
• Administer tests and record progress as directed.
• Maintain student records and grades.
• Supervise students and enforce area rules.
• Ensure safe environment with Positive Behavioral Interventions.
• Oversee student activities and safety in assigned areas.
• May transport materials; escort students as needed.
• Collect and maintain data logs for learning goals.
• Utilize computers and program-specific tech.
• Attend trainings with emphasis on behavioral intervention.
• Maintain consistent presence at worksite and hours.
• Interact professionally with students, staff and public.
• Comply with district policies and procedures.
• Perform related duties as assigned.
