Job summary

A leading consulting firm based in Singapore is seeking an experienced AVP Group Tax to oversee tax compliance and advisory at the group level. The role involves working closely with various business units on tax matters, ensuring compliance with local authorities, and driving optimal outcomes for tax disputes. The ideal candidate will have a degree in accounting or finance, at least 7 years of relevant experience, and strong stakeholder management skills.

About the role

Our client is a SGX-listed group that is well-established in the real estate industry. Its global HQ is in Singapore, and the office is based in town.

For this AVP Group tax role at the Group level in Singapore, it will report to a VP, Finance & Tax (at the Group level). We are seeking an experienced tax candidate at the SM /AVP level who is strong in both tax advisory and tax compliance. You are also hands‑on with a steady career/cv track record.

Job Description
  • Overall group tax leader, responsible for compliance, planning, dispute resolution and advisory

  • Work closely with Business Units (“BUs”), to be jointly responsible for tax compliance and planning for all entities in the group with local authorities, including in areas such as corporate income tax, transfer pricing, capital allowances, withholding tax, GST etc.

  • Review existing tax practices and provide advice to improve existing practices and render support to the BUs as required

  • Support corporate re‑organisations, M&As, JVs, financing, fund flows from tax perspectives

  • Evaluate and apply for tax incentives from local governments. Ensure the BUs comply with conditions imposed to enjoy the incentives provided

  • Drive optimal outcomes for tax controversy and/or dispute resolutions

  • Track new tax developments, evaluate implications to existing and future businesses, and deliver clear insights to management

  • Simplify group structure through regular group‑wide reviews to optimise corporate structures taking into consideration new national and global tax policy developments

  • Coordinate communications with external stakeholders, including tax authorities, tax advisors and auditors

Requirements
  • A degree in accounting and/or finance‑related from a reputable university, and ideally a recognised professional accounting qualification

  • Minimum 7 years corporate and international tax experience, ideally gained within a Big 4 tax professional firm and a commercial firm. That said, strong Big 4 tax professionals with both tax advisory and compliance experience will be considered

  • In‑depth understanding of recent tax compliance and planning rules and regulations

  • Has relevant exposure to corporate income tax, transfer pricing, capital allowances, withholding tax, GST, and other related areas. Exposure advising on M&As, JVs, financing, fund flows from tax perspectives is relevant

  • Strong attention to detail, but at the same time strategic in thinking and recommendations

  • Proven ability to manage multiple complex tax initiatives and deadlines to achieve successful outcomes

  • Team player – ability to work with a large dynamic and diverse environment

  • Solid interpersonal skills, including a strong ability to influence others to achieve desired results

  • Excellent written and spoken communication skills, including preparing insightful presentation materials

  • Results‑oriented and problem‑solving attitude. Has strong organisational skills and hands‑on mentality

  • Dynamic, pro‑active, resilient, resourceful, creative, and operate with the highest level of integrity and professionalism

  • Has a stable CV (with no frequent job movements)
