Job description

Purpose

We are seeking a Senior Sales Engineer to take ownership of product development and lifecycle activities across regional teams. The role involves close collaboration with internal departments and external customers, ensuring that products are developed, launched, and supported in alignment with customer needs and company goals.

While the role is positioned at the senior engineer level, candidates with strong leadership, commercial, and cross-functional experience may be considered for a Sales Manager designation.

Job Duties:

External: Customer & Market Engagement

  • Serve as the technical point of contact for customers, supporting the Sales and Business Development teams.
  • Build and maintain strong customer relationships; gather and translate customer requirements into actionable inputs.
  • Monitor market trends and conduct competitive analysis to support product direction.
  • Participate in exhibitions, customer visits, and marketing-related activities as required.
  • Align customer expectations with internal capabilities to ensure successful product delivery.

Internal: Product Development & Cross-Functional Execution

  • Manage the product lifecycle from concept through to production and delivery, ensuring timely execution.
  • Collaborate with R&D, Engineering, Operations, and Supply Chain teams across Singapore, China, Taiwan, and Malaysia to ensure product feasibility, manufacturability, and competitiveness.
  • Translate market and customer inputs into clear product specifications and improvement plans.
  • Coordinate with internal stakeholders to align on deliverables, technical requirements, and schedules.
  • Conduct data analysis to track product performance and drive continuous improvement.
  • Mentor junior engineers or team members when assigned.
  • Perform any other duties assigned by Management, including support for cross-departmental or business-wide initiatives.
  • Remain adaptable to evolving business needs and priorities.

Experience:

  • 5 to 8 years of experience in Sales Engineering, Product Management, or Product Engineering, ideally in high-mix manufacturing, optics, electronics, or precision industries.
  • Proven ability to manage cross-functional product development projects across regions.
  • Fluent in English and Chinese for effective collaboration with teams and customers from Asia, Europe, and the USA.
  • Strong analytical and commercial thinking to balance technical execution and customer/business needs.
  • Experience in a customer-facing or cross-departmental coordination role is preferred.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Optical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Additional certifications in Product Management, Project Management (e.g., PMP), or Business Development are a plus.
  • Industry experience in optics, instrumentation, or sensing technologies will be advantageous but not required.

Other Requirements:

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and other tools for data analysis and presentations.
  • Experience working with ERP and PLM systems.
  • Familiarity with CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD) is a plus.
  • Understanding of manufacturing and supply chain processes across Singapore, China, Taiwan, and Malaysia.
  • Comfortable using project management tools such as Microsoft Project, Trello, or Jira.
  • Willingness to travel occasionally for coordination or customer support purposes.
