What will you be doing?

As a Senior Master Mariner, you will be supporting Principal Surveyors & Business Line Manager in delivery of business line services and offer guidance to surveyors in execution of surveys and inspections. In addition, you will also:

  • To familiarise with all aspects of all business line services and key deliverables.
  • Carry out technical marine surveys, such as but not limited to H&M/P&I WP surveys, P&I investigations, P&I condition/JH surveys, pre-purchase inspections, On/Off Hire/ROB, Etc.
  • Assist in providing expert witness opinions, both written and oral, in court or arbitration.
  • Assist and/or lead projects (as assigned by the manager) to accomplish the overall delivery of optimum solutions to customers within the timeframe, costs, and quality standards established by management and clients.
  • Assist with the preparation of proposals for bids and tender inputs. Developing new business, including initiating and winning proposals.
  • To attend to casualties and determine the nature, extent and cause of damage.
  • Estimate costs of repairs and subsequently compile reports for Clients.
  • Administration of project documents received, as well as ensuring that the result of the review is notified to the interested parties.
  • Coordinate and carry out inspections/consultancy scope and/or attend operations.
  • Business development activities with P&I Clubs, H&M insurers, ship owners, technical managers, charterers, law firms, ports, and other key stakeholders, with local and international clients.
  • Assist in marketing of the business line and its services.
  • Maintain own level of billable utilisation above 60%.
  • Maintain and develop new and existing clients through appropriate propositions and relevant liaison to optimise quality of service, business growth and client satisfaction.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • You are responsible and accountable for the Quality & HSE aspects within your region/department and projects; shall promote QHSE related activities within all operations and ensure compliance to all applicable company QHSE policies, procedures, work systems and regulations.

The position will be based in Singapore and you must have the right to live and work in Singapore. Able to work remotely as required with flexibility to working hours. On-site (offshore) attendance is required.

What are we looking for?

To excel in this position, you will be a highly technical engineer. Additionally, you will bring:

  • (STCW II/2), Master Mariner (Unlimited) or equivalent with significant survey / consultancy related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Minimum 7-10 years relevant professional experience.
  • Demonstrate working knowledge of industry standards and codes and the ability to apply standards
  • Good decision-making capability with sound technical skills, analytical ability, good judgment and strong operational focus
  • Accurate reporting and the ability to deliver high quality work on time
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills, strong leadership ability and be able to deal effectively with multiple issues and assignments simultaneously
  • Assertive and buoyant, forward-thinking with high ethical standards and appropriate professional image
  • Well organized and self-directed individual with strong business/commercial skills.
  • Outgoing and pragmatic with strength of character, proactive and insightful with good team management skills
  • Team player with excellent communication skills

  • Broad exposure to marine consultancy including warranty consultancy, inspections, audits, surveys, damage surveys and project management
