About the Role:
We are representing a reputable M&E contracting firm appointed for a new large-scale hospital development in the West. They are seeking an experienced Assistant Director, Mechanical to lead the full mechanical package for this landmark project. This is a senior leadership position covering commercial, technical, and site delivery responsibilities.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the end-to-end delivery of the mechanical package for the hospital project, from design coordination to testing & commissioning.
- Provide strong site leadership, coordination, and problem-solving support to clients, consultants, and main contractors.
- Oversee and ensure engineering design, technical compliance, and adherence to relevant codes of practice for building services.
- Manage budget control, cost monitoring, variations, and commercial performance of the project.
- Ensure all materials and installation works meet ISO quality standards and project specifications.
- Coordinate and supervise subcontractors and suppliers, including materials procurement and installation quality.
- Review, produce, and coordinate shop drawings and construction drawings.
- Prepare and manage work schedules, attend client, consultant, and internal coordination meetings.
- Enforce site safety, quality, and environmental standards in line with ISO 9001, ISO 45001, and ISO 14001.
- Maintain close coordination with the main contractor to avoid rework and prevent delays.
- Control site material and equipment usage to minimize wastage.
- Monitor site progress closely and ensure timely delivery of materials and workmanship.
- Inspect for non-conforming works or products and ensure timely rectification.
- Explore new technologies and installation methods to improve productivity and efficiency.
- Support business development, sales input, and project budgeting for new tenders where required.
Requirements
- Diploma or Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
- About 15–20 years of hands-on experience in M&E contracting, with at least 5–10 years in a senior managerial / leadership role.
- Proven track record handling large-scale projects valued above S$50 million, preferably hospital or healthcare projects.
- Strong working knowledge of ACMV, medical gas, plumbing & fire protection systems.
- Strong leadership, communication, stakeholder management, and commercial acumen.
- Able to lead teams, manage multiple stakeholders, and work under tight project timelines.
- Certified ISO Internal Quality Auditor.
- Knowledge of ISO 9001, ISO 45001 & ISO 14001 standards.
- Building Construction Safety Supervisor (BCSS) certification preferred.
