IT Director
This is a pioneer leadership role responsible for establishing and leading the organisation’s Project Management Office (PMO). The role will drive enterprise-wide digital transformation initiatives, with a strong focus on data, analytics, and AI-enabled solutions, while building governance, standards, and delivery capability from the ground up.
The successful candidate will define how projects are prioritised, governed, and delivered across the organisation, while managing a team of Project Managers and Business Analysts.
Design, set up, and operationalise the organisation’s PMO from scratch, including structure, roles, processes, and governance frameworks.
Define and implement project management standards, methodologies (Agile / hybrid), tools, and reporting mechanisms.
Establish portfolio management, project prioritisation, and benefits realisation frameworks aligned with organisational strategy.
Develop clear governance models, escalation paths, and decision‑making forums.
Lead a portfolio of high‑impact digital transformation initiatives across business and operational functions.
Ensure consistent, high‑quality delivery of projects involving enterprise systems, data platforms, analytics, and AI solutions.
Translate strategic objectives into actionable roadmaps and executable delivery plans.
Oversee projects related to data architecture, business intelligence, AI/ML use cases, and automation.
Champion responsible, ethical, and secure use of data and AI in line with organisational values and regulatory requirements.
Collaborate with data, security, and enterprise architecture teams to ensure scalable and sustainable solutions.
Recruit, manage, mentor, and develop a team of Project Managers and Business Analysts.
Build project management capability across IT and business units through coaching, training, and best practices.
Foster a culture of accountability, transparency, and continuous improvement.
Partner closely with senior leadership and key stakeholders to understand priorities and align delivery.
Act as a trusted advisor on project feasibility, sequencing, and delivery risks.
Present portfolio status, risks, and outcomes to executive committees and governance boards.
Oversee project budgets, vendor management, and procurement processes.
Proactively identify and mitigate risks, dependencies, and resource constraints.
Ensure compliance with organisational policies, data protection, and regulatory standards.
Bachelor’s degree in IT, Computer Science, Business, or a related discipline (Master’s preferred).
10+ years of experience in IT project or programme management, including PMO setup or transformation experience.
Proven experience establishing or significantly maturing a PMO function in a complex organisation.
Strong track record delivering digital transformation programmes, particularly involving data, analytics, or AI.
Demonstrated people leadership experience managing Project Managers and Business Analysts.
Deep understanding of project, programme, and portfolio management frameworks.
Strong knowledge of data platforms, analytics, AI concepts, and modern digital architectures.
Excellent stakeholder management and executive communication skills.
Ability to operate strategically while remaining hands‑on during early PMO establishment.
PMP, PRINCE2, MSP, Agile, or equivalent certification is highly desirable.
