Job summary

A leading refinery company in Singapore is seeking a qualified mechanical engineer to develop inspection plans and conduct evaluations on static equipment. The ideal candidate will have at least 4 years of experience in inspection within the oil refinery or petrochemical industries and possess relevant API certifications. Responsibilities include inspecting pressure vessels, preparing reports, and ensuring compliance with safety standards. This role is critical for maintaining operational reliability and mechanical integrity.

Qualifications

  • Experience in failure analysis of material in oil refinery/petrochemical industries.
  • Familiar with relevant codes for flanged connections.

Job description
Key Responsibilities
  • Develop inspection plan and schedule for piping & static equipment in collaboration with Operations & Maintenance department
  • Conduct planned inspections & NDE of pressure vessel, storage tanks, piping and relief valve to assess equipment condition and identify internal/ external corrosion or defects
  • Recommend repairs or inspection frequency and monitor operational reliability to prevent any failure/leakage and achieve mechanical integrity in line with ASME PCC and other relevant codes
  • Coordinate with NDT contractors on job scope needed to support inspection work requirements
  • Record inspection findings and prepare detailed reports inside inspection data management system
  • Coordinate with authorized examiner to schedule statutory inspections of equipment as well as ensure all necessary documentation and records are prepared and available for the examiner and verify that all inspection activities comply with relevant statutory requirement and standards
  • Investigate, analyze and determine root-cause of any failure or inherent defect in equipment/piping to make recommendations for alleviating the condition or solving the problem
  • Responsible as the unit inspector for assigned unit and when necessary, assist or work in any other process units, Utility or Offsite areas
Qualifications
  • Degree in Mechanical or Materials Science Engineering
  • At least 4 years’ relevant experience in inspection of fixed equipment, failure analysis of material preferably in the oil refinery/petrochemical or related industries.
  • Possess at least API certifications 510 and 570 with preferably API 653 and AWS/CWI or equivalent, or NDE ASNT or PCN level 2 certifications.
  • Competence in Risk Based Inspection
  • Familiar with relevant codes for Flanged connections (in terms of gaskets, bolting torques)
