Job summary

The ideal candidate will have a degree in Electrical & Electronics Engineering, with at least 8 years of experience in maintenance and design within oil & gas or petrochemical sectors. Qualifications

Job description
Senior Control & Instrumentation (C&I) Engineer

Our client is looking for an experienced C&I engineer to provide technical and maintenance support for control & instrumentation systems – overseeing design, reliability and functional safety of terminal equipment whilst ensuring seamless integration with production and expansion projects.

Responsibilities
  • Provide technical support and solutions to Production and Maintenance teams for all instrument-related issues.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to optimize instrument reliability, reduce maintenance costs and improve equipment availability.
  • Liaise with external stakeholders including government agencies to ensure compliance for gas pipelines, power grids, metering and instrument interfaces.
  • Develop, update and maintain procedures for instruments, PLCs, Fire & Gas systems, ESD, metering, CCTV and security systems.
  • Conduct root cause analysis of instrument incidents and implement preventive and corrective actions.
  • Manage minor instrument and control engineering projects from design through commissioning including MOCs to improve operational reliability.
  • Oversee verification, inspection, testing and certification of electrical and instrument equipment for hazardous areas.
  • Support functional safety lifecycle management of SIS systems, facility expansion projects, maintenance turnarounds and emergency response activities.
Requirements
  • Degree in Electrical & Electronics Engineering or equivalent – professional accreditation preferred.
  • Minimum 8 years of practical experience in control & instrumentation maintenance, design or engineering in oil & gas or petrochemical plants.
  • Strong knowledge of local codes, regulations and international electrical & instrument engineering standards.
  • Experience in functional safety for process industries (IEC 61511) – Certified Functional Safety Engineer (CFSE) certification would be an added advantage.
  • Hands‑on experience in installing, commissioning, maintaining and troubleshooting complex electrical, control and instrumentation systems.
  • Proficient in PLC programming with experience in debugging third‑party equipment – Siemens PLC knowledge would be an added advantage.
  • Ability to prepare and review technical documentations, procedures and reports for management and regulatory compliance.
  • Strong problem‑solving, project management and cross‑functional collaboration skills in multi‑disciplinary teams.
