A Senior Civil Engineer leads complex infrastructure or construction projects, overseeing design, planning, and execution. They coordinate with architects, consultants, and contractors to ensure structural integrity, compliance, safety, and project success.
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering (required)
- Master’s degree or specialization (e.g., Structural, Geotechnical, Transportation) is a plus
- Licensed or registered Professional Engineer (PE) or Chartered Engineer status (depending on region)
- Completed course certification in BIM( Building Information Modeling)
Experience
- Experience in BIM( Building Information Modeling) at least 3 years
- 5–10+ years of relevant civil engineering experience
- Proven track record managing medium to large-scale infrastructure projects (roads, bridges, utilities, buildings, etc.)
- Experience working in both consultancy and site-based environments
Technical Skills
- Proficiency in civil design software: AutoCAD Civil 3D, STAAD.Pro or similar
- Knowledge of project management tools: MS Project, Primavera, BIM 360, etc.
- Deep understanding of construction methods, building codes, and safety regulations (e.g., Eurocodes, AASHTO, BS, local regulations)
- Familiarity with tendering, cost estimation, and contract administration (e.g., FIDIC, NEC)
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and oversee civil/structural design, analysis, and documentation
- Manage project timelines, budgets, and resource allocation
- Supervise and mentor junior engineers, drafters, and technical staff
- Ensure compliance with local engineering codes, environmental regulations, and safety standards
- Conduct or approve site inspections, quality checks, and technical reports
- Collaborate with clients, consultants, contractors, and government authorities
- Participate in tender evaluations, value engineering, and design reviews
