Job summary

A local staffing agency in Singapore is seeking a Science Lab Assistant to maintain a safe and tidy laboratory environment in a primary school. Responsibilities include ensuring equipment safety, supporting teachers, and managing laboratory supplies. The position is part-time, involving 16 hours weekly on designated days. Previous experience in primary school science labs and proficiency in English is required. Flexible working hours may apply for scheduling within Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays.

  • Inspect Bunsen burners to ensure they are in good condition.
  • Report all faulty machines and equipment immediately.

About the job Science Lab Assistant (Boon Keng)
  • Maintain a safe, clean and tidy laboratory environment.
  • Ensure that all apparatus and equipment are safe and clean for use.
  • Maintain laboratory equipment, apparatus, materials and specimens.
  • Report all faulty machines and equipment immediately and display an Out of Order sign prominently on the machines/equipment.
  • Ensure that all glass apparatus or breakages are disposed of appropriately.
  • Ensure that Bunsen burners and high risk items (data loggers and microscopes) are properly kept and under lock and key.
  • Inspect Bunsen burners to ensure they are in good condition.
  • Keep a stock book and breakage record to indicate necessary replacement.
  • Check and replenish first aid supplies.
  • Aid Science teachers in preparing resources for laboratory lessons.
  • Aid Science teachers during laboratory lessons, when required.
  • Aid Science teachers with the clearing up after laboratory lessons, when required.
  • Any other work assigned by the Science HOD.

Requirement:

  • Previous experience working in Primary School Science Labs.

Proficient in English (speaking, reading, and writing).

Preferably able to use phone messaging apps and email.

Duration/Working hours:

40 weeks contract ( 5 Jan 2026 to 20 Nov 2026)

  • Days: Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays

Hours:

Third day (e.g., Friday): 8:00am 2:30pm (including 30‑min break) 6 hours

Total: 16 hours per week

Notes: Hours may be flexibly scheduled within these three days but are capped at 16 hours weekly
