Job description
Overview

Robotics Hardware Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled Robotics Hardware Engineer to drive production readiness development and manufacturing optimization for in-house developed robot production launch. This role will focus on transitioning our proven prototypes into production-ready systems, preparing for an initial production run with plans for larger-scale deployment in airport environments. Your work will have huge impact and potential to transform the daily routine and tedious cleaning tasks for facilities management operations and beyond.

Responsibilities
  • Support and execute DVT-level testing for embedded hardware systems, including sensors, power delivery, motor controllers, and safety circuits.
  • Perform board bring-up, system integration, signal integrity testing, and thermal performance evaluation.
  • Review and refine schematics, PCB layouts, and BOMs, ensuring electrical performance and manufacturability.
  • Validate compliance with EMC, safety, and regulatory standards.
  • Assist in development of automated test jigs for electrical subassemblies during the pilot stage.
  • Refine mechanical architecture of robotic mobile base platform, including chassis, wheel/motor mounts, sensor housings, battery enclosures, and serviceability features.
  • Perform tolerance stack-up analysis, DFM/DFT assessments, and mechanical failure analysis.
  • Work with industrial designers, mechanical engineers, and vendors to implement design changes based on DVT feedback.
  • Support development of tooling, fixtures, and jigs for assembly and pilot manufacturing.
  • Validate thermal dissipation strategies, vibration isolation, ingress protection (IP ratings), and structural durability.
  • Coordinate with firmware, systems, manufacturing, and supply chain teams to ensure seamless product integration.
  • Support manufacturing pilot builds (on-site or remotely), resolving assembly line issues, implementing design revisions, and verifying quality control processes.
  • Troubleshoot field failures or reliability test failures and assist in root cause analysis and corrective actions.
  • Create and maintain engineering documentation, including 3D CAD models, 2D drawings, ECOs, test protocols, verification reports, and assembly instructions.
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechatronics, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in robotics, automation, or electromechanical system development.
  • Proficiency in CAD tools such as SolidWorks, PTC Creo, or Fusion 360, as well as schematic/PCB design tools (e.g., Altium, OrCAD).
  • Hands-on experience with motors, actuators, drive systems, power electronics, batteries, and sensors.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical manufacturing methods (CNC, injection molding, sheet metal, etc.) and material selection.
  • Familiarity with DFM/DFT, GD&T, thermal/vibration testing, and regulatory compliance (CE, FCC, etc.).
  • Ability to use lab tools and test equipment (oscilloscopes, multimeters, environmental chambers, etc.).
  • Familiar and proficient in Robot Simulation Environment (e.g. RoboDK).
Preferred Attributes
  • Have work closely in a project from NPD (New Product Development) to MP (Mass Production) - familiar with DFM and DFA process, systems and documentations.
  • Experience working in DVT/NPI stages and collaborating with contract manufacturers (CMs).
  • Knowledge of robotic platforms, including kinematics and motion control systems.
  • Ability to multitask across fast-paced, iterative design cycles.
  • Strong communication skills, with ability to document clearly and explain decisions to multidisciplinary teams.
  • A “builder” mindset – eager to prototype, iterate, and solve real-world challenges hands-on.
