Job summary

Ethos is seeking a Director of Data Engineering to guide the creation, evaluation, and refinement of AI-driven documentation across technical design, data pipelines, model evaluation, and API guides.

This fully remote role offers flexible scheduling (5–20 hours per week) and a compensation rate of $80 per hour, with cancellation allowed. The ideal candidate will excel in crafting precise documents and communicating complex trade-offs to stakeholders.

Qualifications

• 4+ years as a software engineer, data engineer, or AI/ML practitioner writing technical design documents, data pipeline docs, or API specs.
• Experience evaluating model outputs or system readiness and documenting tradeoffs for engineering or cross-functional stakeholders.
• Expert-level document, spreadsheet, and slide craftsmanship with excellent written communication.

Responsibilities

• Help train a language model on professional documents, spreadsheets, and slide decks.
• Create, evaluate, and refine AI-generated documents across core workflows (technical design docs, data pipelines, model evaluations, API guides).
• Produce clear documentation and onboarding materials for developers and collaborators.
