Position Overview

The Project Architect Assistant will support the Project Architect in overseeing design coordination and project management activities within our development firm. This role is integral to ensuring that architectural designs align with project goals, budgets, and timelines. The assistant will collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders, leveraging strong technical and communication skills—preferably in both English and Chinese—to facilitate seamless project execution.

Key Responsibilities
Design Development
  • Collaborate with the Project Architect to create and refine architectural design concepts.

  • Prepare detailed drawings (plans, elevations, sections, and construction details) using CAD software.

  • Develop presentation materials for meetings, design reviews, and internal discussions.

Stakeholder Coordination
  • Liaise with external consultants (architects, engineers, etc.) to integrate their designs into the project.

  • Ensure effective communication among project stakeholders, attending meetings and documenting key points in minutes.

Documentation and Regulatory Compliance
  • Verify that design documentation complies with building codes, regulations, and industry standards.

  • Assist in preparing and submitting permit and approval documents.

  • Maintain organized, up-to-date project files for easy access.

Research and Analytical Support
  • Research building materials, construction techniques, and sustainable practices.

  • Support feasibility studies and cost analyses to evaluate design options.

Quality Assurance
  • Review drawings and specifications for accuracy and consistency.

  • Join site visits to monitor construction progress and ensure design intent is followed.

Project Administration
  • Track project timelines and design milestones to meet deadlines.

  • Prepare status reports and updates for senior management.

  • Manage correspondence with stakeholders, utilizing English and Chinese as needed.

Bilingual Communication
  • Facilitate communication between English and Chinese-speaking team members and stakeholders.

  • Translate project documents or reports when required to bridge language gaps.

Cost and Value Optimization
  • Assist in assessing design options based on cost, functionality, and aesthetics.

  • Support value engineering efforts to optimize costs while preserving quality.

Technical Proficiencies
  • Advanced skills in CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit).

  • Familiarity with project management tools (e.g., MS Project, Primavera) is a plus.

  • Competence in presentation software (e.g., PowerPoint, Adobe Creative Suite).

Reporting Structure
  • Reports directly to the Project Architect.

  • Works closely with the design team, construction management, and other departments.

Professional Expectations
  • Maintain professionalism and ethical conduct in all interactions.

  • Protect confidentiality of project-related information.

  • Stay current with industry trends and participate in relevant training.
