Job summary

An international shipping group in Singapore is seeking a detail-oriented Paralegal with a Bachelor’s degree in Law. Responsibilities include drafting and reviewing ship sale and purchase documents, coordinating with internal teams, and liaising with external parties. Candidates must have at least 3 years of experience in paralegal work, preferably in shipping, and strong legal drafting skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and fluency in English are required.

Job description

Salling Search is assisting an international shipping group in the search for a highly organised and detail-oriented Paralegal, experienced in ship sale and purchase (S&P), financing, and compliance, to join their Business Support Team in Singapore.

Only candidates who have the below skills will be considered for this role.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the legal team with drafting, reviewing, and executing S&P and ship financing documents.
  • Coordinate with internal teams (Treasury, Finance, Technical, Projects, Operations) on transactions.
  • Liaise with commercial, technical, and external parties such as brokers, ship registries, and external counsel.
  • Prepare for and attend closing meetings.
  • Draft and review NDAs, service contracts, and other agreements.
  • Conduct KYC/AML checks on counterparties.
  • Keep company records updated and handle regulatory filings.
  • Track legal deadlines, flag state renewals, and corporate obligations.
  • Organise legal documents and maintain internal databases.
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Law, Maritime Law, Legal Studies, or related field.
  • Minimum 3 years’ paralegal or legal assistant experience, preferably in shipping, commodities, or international trade, with exposure to:
  • S&P transactions
  • Ship financing transactions
  • KYC/AML compliance
  • Knowledge of maritime legal documents and procedures for international ship registries.
  • Strong legal drafting skills and attention to detail.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office.
  • Fluent in English (additional languages are advantageous).
