Job summary

Geodis Singapore Pte. Ltd. is seeking an Ocean Freight Operations support role to handle daily tasks in import/export logistics.

You will act as the primary contact for customer questions, translate instructions into bookings, and guide clients on optimal routes and deadlines to ensure on-time delivery. The role requires at least 1 year in the field, basic computer skills, and strong customer service abilities. Familiarity with CargoWise, EDI and Tradenet is preferred.

Qualifications

• GCE O level qualification or higher is required.
• At least 1 year of experience in a related field.
• Proficient with basic computer tools (Excel, Word, Outlook).
• Strong customer service mindset and team spirit.
• Ability to work under pressure and respond promptly to inquiries.

Responsibilities

• Serve as first contact for customer questions on freight rates, routes and procedures.
• Translate client export instructions into carrier booking requests.
• Advise on routing options, vessel times and deadlines to meet delivery targets.
• Notify clients of delays or issues and offer immediate solutions.
• Assist with data and paperwork for DG or temperature-controlled bookings.
• Place cargo bookings for FCL and LCL shipments.
• Coordinate with carriers to secure containers from depots.
• Monitor port close dates and submission deadlines to prevent rollovers.
• Update clients on milestones and tracking portals.

About the role

This role supports day-to-day Ocean Freight Operations. As part of Geodis Integrated Solutions, the GEODIS Ocean Freight team offers efficient and timely ocean freight import and export transportation services, selecting the most suitable carriers for on time services.

Key responsibilities

• Serve as the first point of contact for all customer questions regarding freight rates, routes, and port procedures
• Receive export shipping instructions from clients and translate them into carrier booking requests
• Guide clients on the best routing options, vessel transit times, and closing deadlines to meet their delivery targets
• Inform clients immediately about vessel delays, port omissions, or missed cut-offs, offering immediate solutions
• Assist clients with the specific data and paperwork needed for Dangerous Goods (DG) or temperature-controlled (Reefer) bookings
• Place cargo bookings with ocean liners for Full Container Load (FCL) and Less-than-Container Load (LCL) shipments
• Coordinate with carriers to secure empty, clean shipping containers from local container depots
• Track strict port closing dates and document submission deadlines to ensure cargo is not rolled over
• Update clients on container milestones, including warehouse pickup, port gate‑in, and actual vessel departure (ATD)
• Update shipment milestones in system to ensure client‑facing tracking portals are accurate

About you

• GCE O level qualification and above required
• At least 1 year of working experience in the related field is required for this position
• Competent in basic computer skills and applications (Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook)
• Good Customer Service Skills
• Team player with excellent interpersonal skills
• Able to work in stressful environment and require immediate response to any urgent inquiries from internal or external
• Independent and able to work in a fast‑paced environment
• Understanding of the local freight market (carriers and subcontractors) preferred
• Knowledge in CargoWise, EDI & Tradenet Skill preferred
