Job description

Our client is a well‑established commodity trading firm seeking an experienced Operational Risk Manager on a contract basis. This role plays a critical part in identifying, assessing and mitigating operational risks across trading, logistics, finance and middle‑office functions.

Key Responsibilities

• Identify, assess and monitor operational risks across trading, logistics, settlements, credit and finance functions
• Maintain and enhance the operational risk framework, including RCSA, KRIs and incident reporting
• Review and challenge process flows, controls and procedures across front, middle and back office
• Analyse operational incidents, near misses and losses, including root cause analysis and remediation tracking
• Partner with Trading, Operations, Risk and Compliance teams to embed strong risk awareness and controls
• Support change initiatives, new products, systems implementations and process redesign from a risk perspective
• Prepare risk reports and dashboards for senior management and relevant risk committees
• Assist with internal audits, external reviews and regulatory engagements where applicable

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Risk Management, Economics, Engineering or a related discipline
• 7–12 years’ experience in operational risk, middle office, or risk management within a commodity trading, energy or trading environment
• Strong understanding of commodity trading lifecycles (physical and/or derivatives)
• Hands‑on experience with RCSA, KRIs, incident management and control testing
• Sound knowledge of trading operations, logistics, settlements and systems
• Strong stakeholder management and communication skills
• Detail‑oriented, proactive and comfortable operating in a fast‑paced, commercial environment
• Available to commit to a contract assignment of 12 months.
