RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Management of student leaders from the SMU Sports & Adventure Clubs
    • Oversee, mentor, and guide the student leaders of the SMU Sports and Adventure clubs in the development and implementation of strategic goals.
    • Oversee, mentor and guide student leaders in club governance, finance and branding to establish credible student‑led Sports and Adventure clubs in SMU.
    • Guide and support student leaders in risk assessment in collaboration with the SMU Office of Safety and Security.
  • Discover and nurture student leaders through out‑of‑the‑classroom programmes/events/activities
    • Conduct regular reviews and assessments of student activities and programmes, including evaluation of the performance of sports clubs.
    • Oversee and guide student leaders in the conceptualisation, operations and technical aspects of students‑led events and activities.
    • Mentor and facilitate the delivery of the SMU Graduate Learning Outcomes (GLOs) through the events and activities organized by student clubs.
    • Assess student leaders on the SMU GLOs at a personal and group level using the Integrated Co‑curricular Management System (ICMS) through Sports and Adventure events/activities.
    • Assist in the coordination, formulation and periodic review towards the delivery of SMU GLOs through appropriate student leadership developmental programmes with internal offices and external agencies/organizations.
  • External stakeholder management (SportSG, National Sports Association)
    • Assist to establish new partnerships with NSAs/sponsors/external parties to enhance the quality of Sports and Adventure cluster's initiatives/events/activities.
    • Assist with the regular review of SportSG and the NSA policies to keep them relevant and updated.
    • Assist in the review of safety management regulations set by SportSG and its attendant NSAs and align them SMU based Sports and Adventure activities.
    • Network with other counterparts from local IHL and overseas university to exchange ideas, strengthen relationships and forge mutually beneficial partnerships when the opportunity presents itself.
  • Internal operational/administrative functions of the Sports and Adventure cluster
    • Contribute relevant expertise and experience to the cluster's aggregate competencies in the Sports and Adventure cluster.
    • Helm and manage the cluster's marketing and communication efforts.
    • Perform the role as the cluster's Data Protection Officer and PDPA representative.
    • Build and maintain strong working relationship with other units and offices to promote Sports and Adventure initiatives/events/participation.
    • Assist with the organising of competitions within the Singapore University Sports Council (SUSC) and Institute‑Varsity‑Polytechnic Council (IVPC).
    • Assist with the manage the operations of SMU sports facilities (eg. SMU Gymnasium, swimming pool and Multi‑Purpose Sports Hall).
    • Any other roles and responsibilities as assigned by RO.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • A recognised university degree in any field.
  • At least four years of experience in a role working on sports and student development programmes.
  • Experience working with SportSG, NSAs or other IHLs in collaborative projects/sporting events.
  • Experience in the management of sporting events and facilities will be an advantage.
  • Self‑motivated with strong interpersonal and problem‑solving skills.
  • Facilitation skills and knowledge of assessment of learning outcomes will be a key advantage.
  • Possess strong organising, coordinating and administrative capabilities.
  • Possess strong analytical skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to guide, influence and be assertive with colleagues and students where necessary.
  • Experienced in managing major student events.
  • Experienced in coaching and mentoring students.
  • Good financial accounting abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and able to be an excellent team player when called upon.
  • Proficient in MS Office.
  • Ability to leverage on Generative AI technologies to develop, implement, and optimise AI‑driven solutions that enhance work effectiveness and efficiency will be an added advantage.
OTHER INFORMATION

Candidates who do not possess the stipulated qualifications but have relevant work experience may still apply. Remuneration and appointment terms shall commensurate with qualifications and experience. SMU reserves the right to modify the appointment terms where necessary.
