Job description
What the role is:

Do you have a strong interest in international tax transparency and cross-border tax cooperation to combat global tax evasion and possess an analytical mind? As a tax information exchange specialist in IRAS, you work in a team and play a critical role in Singapore’s implementation of international standards on Exchange of Information (EOI) on Request and related tax transparency frameworks. You will gain hands‑on experience in formulating Singapore’s EOI policies, evaluating and handling tax information requests to and from Singapore’s treaty partners, building expertise in managing accurate, secure, and internationally compliant exchanges. At the Exchange of Information Branch in the International Tax and Relations Division, we offer you the space to participate in advancing Singapore's interest in tax matters internationally as well as the opportunity to develop personal skills in international engagement. You will experience first‑hand the dynamic global developments in tax policy‑making and the holistic implementation of international tax policies domestically.

What you will be working on:
  • Handling EOI requests to and from Singapore’s treaty partners, ensuring proper evaluation and handling according to internationally‑agreed standards.
  • Formulating and implementing Singapore’s EOI policies in collaboration with other divisions in IRAS and/or governmental agencies.
  • Participating in bilateral and multilateral international meetings on EOI matters.
  • Reviewing work processes and leveraging analytics, design, and digitalisation to transform these processes.
  • Contributing to the division’s projects and initiatives.
  • Managing certain aspects of AEOI matters, such as promoting voluntary compliance of Financial Institutions (FIs) with FATCA and CRS, conducting audits, and providing services to assist FIs in meeting their obligations.
What we are looking for:
  • A strong team spirit, positive attitude, and willingness to learn, adapt, experiment, and innovate.
  • Excellent analytical and decision‑making skills, with keen attention to detail.
  • Resourceful, independent, self‑motivated, with strong ownership and accountability.
  • Collaborative and has strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Professional training or education in Accountancy, Business Administration, Finance, Audit, or Law would be beneficial.
  • Prior experience in tax audit, compliance and investigation will be helpful.
  • Willingness to occasionally travel overseas for official purposes or attend virtual international meetings outside of standard working hours (usually in the evenings).

The exchange of information “EOI” is the cross-border sharing of information for tax purposes between tax administrations to detect and prevent tax evasion, to ensure the correct application of a jurisdiction’s domestic tax legislation and avoidance of double taxation agreements and to foster domestic tax compliance.
