Job summary

SsangYong Engineering & Construction Co. Ltd is seeking an experienced Senior Civil & Structural Project Manager to lead a large hospital construction program in Singapore.

You will oversee all C&S activities, coordinate with consultants, subcontractors and the project team, and ensure delivery per drawings, specs and schedule. Candidates should have substantial C&S experience on major building projects, including hospital-type facilities, with robust leadership, planning, and QA/QC

Qualifications

• Degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering or related discipline.
• 12+ years of civil/structural construction experience with project management responsibility.
• Proven track record managing C&S for large-scale building projects.
• Experience on hospital/healthcare or complex facilities is advantageous.
• Strong knowledge of C&S construction practices and codes.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage all C&S construction activities for a large hospital project.
• Plan, coordinate and execute C&S works per drawings, specs, contract and schedule.
• Lead the C&S project team including engineers, coordinators and site staff.

Job Responsibilities

• Lead and manage all Civil & Structural (C&S) construction activities for a large-scale hospital construction project.
• Take overall responsibility for the planning, coordination and execution of C&S works in accordance with approved drawings, specifications, contract requirements and project programme.
• Lead the C&S project team, including engineers, coordinators, supervisors and relevant site personnel.
• Coordinate closely with the Project Director, Project Manager, consultants, architects, structural engineers, subcontractors and other project stakeholders.
• Review C&S design drawings, specifications, calculations, method statements, shop drawings and technical submissions.
• Ensure C&S design requirements are properly coordinated with architectural, M&E and other specialist works.
• Monitor construction progress and ensure C&S works are completed according to the approved programme and project milestones.
• Identify potential delays, technical issues and construction risks and implement appropriate mitigation measures.
• Coordinate with consultants and relevant authorities on technical matters, inspections, submissions and approvals.
• Review and resolve technical queries, RFIs, design changes and site coordination issues.
• Supervise and monitor structural works including foundation, piling, excavation, reinforced concrete, structural steel and other related works.
• Ensure construction activities are carried out in accordance with approved drawings, specifications, method statements and quality requirements.
• Monitor workmanship, inspection and testing activities and ensure compliance with project quality standards.
• Coordinate with subcontractors on work sequencing, manpower, resources, construction methods and progress.
• Review subcontractor performance and ensure timely completion of assigned C&S works.
• Attend project, technical and coordination meetings with the client, consultants and subcontractors.
• Monitor project costs and support the Project Manager in managing variations, claims and commercial matters related to C&S works.
• Coordinate with the planning team on construction schedules, progress updates and recovery programmes.
• Work closely with the QA/QC and safety teams to ensure compliance with project quality and safety requirements.
• Provide technical guidance and mentoring to C&S engineers and site staff.
• Prepare and review progress reports, technical reports and other project documentation.
• Lead the resolution of major C&S technical and construction issues to minimise delays and rework.
• Ensure proper documentation, inspection records, as-built information and handover requirements are completed.
• Support testing, commissioning, completion and handover activities as required.

Job Requirements

• Degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering or a related discipline.
• Minimum 12 years of relevant experience in civil and structural construction, with substantial experience in project management.
• Proven experience managing C&S works for large-scale building projects.
• Experience with hospital, healthcare, institutional or other complex building projects will be an advantage.
• Strong experience with reinforced concrete, structural steel, foundations, excavation and other major structural works.
• Previous experience with a main contractor or Design & Build contractor is preferred.
• Strong knowledge of Singapore construction practices, relevant codes, standards and statutory requirements.
• Experience coordinating with consultants, authorities, subcontractors and specialist contractors.
• Strong knowledge of construction planning, project scheduling, quality control and site coordination.
• Ability to review and interpret engineering drawings, specifications and technical documents.
• Familiarity with BIM coordination, AutoCAD and relevant construction/project management software.
• Strong leadership, communication, coordination and problem-solving skills.
• Able to manage multiple work fronts and deliver project milestones under tight deadlines.
