Qualifications

• Degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or related discipline.
• 3–5 years of relevant structural engineering and construction experience.
• Experience with large-scale hospitals or healthcare projects is advantageous.
• Strong knowledge of structural construction methods, drawings, and specs.
• Familiarity with BIM/Revit, AutoCAD, and other engineering software is a plus.
• Ability to coordinate with consultants, subcontractors, and multidisciplinary teams.

Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Structural Engineer to support the structural engineering and construction activities for a major hospital construction project in Singapore. The successful candidate will be responsible for structural coordination, technical submissions, site inspections and ensuring that structural works are implemented in accordance with approved drawings, specifications and project requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Coordinate and monitor structural works for the hospital construction project.
• Review structural drawings, specifications, calculations, shop drawings and construction details.
• Coordinate structural requirements with the design consultants, architects, C&S team, M&E team and other project disciplines.
• Review and coordinate structural shop drawings, material submissions, method statements and technical submissions.
• Monitor structural works on site to ensure compliance with approved drawings, specifications and construction requirements.
• Attend site inspections and coordinate with consultants and subcontractors on structural matters.
• Identify structural construction issues and coordinate with relevant parties to develop appropriate solutions.
• Prepare and respond to Requests for Information (RFIs), technical queries and design clarification matters.
• Coordinate structural design changes and ensure that revised drawings and technical information are properly communicated to the site team.
• Monitor the progress and quality of structural works and highlight potential technical or programme issues.
• Assist in planning structural construction sequences and coordinate with relevant trades to minimise site conflicts.
• Check structural works before inspections and coordinate rectification of defects or non-conformities.
• Maintain proper records of structural inspections, submissions, approvals and technical correspondence.
• Liaise with structural consultants, subcontractors and suppliers on technical and construction matters.
• Assist in ensuring that structural works comply with relevant Singapore codes, standards and statutory requirements.
• Support the C&S Manager in technical coordination and project-related matters.
• Perform other duties related to structural engineering as assigned by the Project Manager or C&S Manager.

Requirements

• Degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
• Minimum 3–5 years of relevant experience in structural engineering and construction.
• Experience in large-scale building, institutional, commercial, healthcare or hospital projects will be an advantage.
• Strong knowledge of structural construction methods, drawings, specifications and technical coordination.
• Good understanding of reinforced concrete and structural steel construction.
• Familiarity with Singapore construction practices, relevant codes and standards.
• Experience in reviewing structural drawings, shop drawings, method statements and technical submissions.
• Ability to coordinate effectively with consultants, subcontractors and multidisciplinary project teams.
• Good problem-solving, communication and coordination skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office and relevant engineering/design software.
• Familiarity with BIM/Revit, AutoCAD or other structural engineering software will be an advantage.
• Candidates with relevant professional qualifications or professional registration will have an advantage.
• Able to work independently and meet project deadlines in a fast-paced construction environment.
