Job summary

Qualifications

• Degree or Diploma in Civil Engineering, Building, Construction Management, or a related discipline.
• Minimum 7 years of relevant construction/site management experience.
• Prior hospital or healthcare construction project experience is required.
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specs, and schedules.

Responsibilities

• Manage daily construction activities and overall site operations for the hospital project.
• Plan, coordinate, and monitor works to align with the approved programme and schedule.
• Lead Site Engineers, Supervisors, subcontractors, and site workers.
• Coordinate architectural, structural, M&E, and specialist works for smooth execution.
• Monitor manpower, materials, and equipment for efficient use.
• Review drawings, method statements, and project submissions for site execution.
• Coordinate with Project Manager, consultants, and suppliers.
• Track subcontractor progress and ensure compliance with project requirements.
• Conduct regular site inspections for progress, quality, and safety.
• Ensure compliance with drawings, specs, and Singapore safety regulations.
• Identify delays and risks and implement corrective actions.
• Coordinate site and progress meetings, inspections, testing, and handover.
• Maintain daily reports, progress records, and project documentation.
• Assist in monitoring costs, variations, and subcontractor claims.
• Ensure timely delivery of materials and equipment.
• Promote good housekeeping and safety practices on site.
• Provide updates to Construction Manager and Project Manager.

We are seeking an experienced Senior Engineer to oversee and manage the day-to-day site operations for a major hospital project in Singapore. The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating construction activities, managing site team and subcontractors, monitoring project progress, and ensuring that works are completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with approved drawings, specifications, quality standards, and project schedules.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage and oversee daily construction activities and overall site operations for the hospital project.
• Plan, coordinate, and monitor construction works to ensure compliance with the approved project programme and schedule.
• Lead and coordinate Site Engineers, Site Supervisors, subcontractors, workers, and other site personnel.
• Coordinate architectural, structural, M&E, and specialist construction works to ensure smooth site execution.
• Monitor manpower, materials, equipment, and other site resources to ensure efficient utilization.
• Review construction drawings, method statements, work programmes, and technical submissions relevant to site execution.
• Coordinate with the Project Manager, Construction Manager, consultants, architects, engineers, subcontractors, suppliers, and relevant stakeholders.
• Monitor the progress and performance of subcontractors and ensure works are completed according to project requirements.
• Conduct regular site inspections to monitor progress, workmanship, quality, and safety.
• Ensure that construction works comply with approved drawings, specifications, method statements, quality standards, and applicable Singapore requirements.
• Identify potential delays, technical issues, construction risks, and coordination problems and implement appropriate corrective measures.
• Coordinate site meetings, progress meetings, inspections, testing, commissioning, handover, and defect rectification activities.
• Monitor and control site work schedules and coordinate recovery plans where construction activities fall behind programme.
• Ensure proper site documentation, daily reports, progress records, inspection records, and other project records are maintained.
• Assist in monitoring project costs, variation works, material requirements, and subcontractor claims.
• Coordinate with procurement and project teams to ensure timely delivery of construction materials and equipment.
• Promote and enforce good housekeeping, workplace safety, and environmental practices at the project site.
• Ensure effective communication between site teams, subcontractors, consultants, and management.
• Provide regular progress and site operation updates to the Construction Manager and Project Manager.
• Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Project Manager or Project Director.

Requirements

• Degree or Diploma in Civil Engineering, Building, Construction Management, or a related discipline.
• Minimum 7 years of relevant construction/site management experience.
• Prior experience in hospital or healthcare construction projects is required.
• Proven experience managing large-scale building or construction projects and multidisciplinary site teams.
• Strong knowledge of construction methods, site management, project coordination, quality control, and workplace safety.
• Experience managing subcontractors, suppliers, Site Engineers, Site Supervisors, and construction workers.
• Good understanding of architectural, structural, M&E, and specialist construction works.
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, method statements, and project schedules.
• Knowledge of Singapore construction practices, statutory requirements, and workplace safety regulations.
• Strong leadership, communication, coordination, and problem-solving skills.
• Good project planning and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple site activities simultaneously.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office and construction/project management software.
• Experience with hospital projects involving M&E coordination, specialist systems, testing and commissioning, and project handover will be an advantage.
• Able to work independently and effectively under tight project schedules and deadlines.
