Job summary

Hexacon Construction Pte Ltd in Singapore is seeking an experienced Lead Civil & Structural Engineer to oversee building projects from design development through construction and handover. You will lead the civil and structural works, coordinate with project managers, consultants, architects and subcontractors, and ensure alignment with drawings, specs and Singapore codes.

You will review drawings, manage risk, mentor engineers, run site meetings, and drive quality, safety and on-time completion

Qualifications

• Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering required.
• 8+ years' experience in building construction with an A1 Main Contractor preferred.
• Proven track record managing civil and structural works for large projects.
• Strong knowledge of Singapore codes and site coordination.
• Able to lead teams and liaise with consultants and clients.

Job Description

• Lead and manage all civil and structural works for building construction projects from design development through construction and completion.
• Coordinate closely with the Project Manager, consultants, architects, subcontractors and other project teams to ensure smooth project execution.
• Review and coordinate structural and civil drawings, specifications, method statements and technical submissions.
• Monitor structural works including foundation, piling, excavation, basement, RC structures, steel structures and other related works.
• Ensure construction works are carried out in accordance with approved drawings, specifications, project requirements and relevant Singapore codes and regulations.
• Review structural details and identify design discrepancies, constructability issues, clashes and potential site constraints.
• Coordinate with consultants and subcontractors on technical issues, RFIs, shop drawings, material submissions and method statements.
• Monitor project progress, construction sequence and site activities to ensure works are completed according to the project programme.
• Provide technical guidance and support to the site team in resolving civil and structural issues.
• Coordinate structural interfaces with architectural, M&E and other building services works.
• Supervise and monitor subcontractors to ensure quality, safety and compliance with project requirements.
• Attend site, technical and coordination meetings with clients, consultants, subcontractors and relevant stakeholders.
• Assist in reviewing variations, technical changes and their potential impact on project cost and programme.
• Ensure proper inspection, testing, documentation and handover of completed civil and structural works.
• Identify potential construction risks and implement appropriate mitigation measures.
• Lead and mentor engineers, coordinators and site personnel within the civil and structural team.
• Perform other project-related duties as assigned by management.

Job Requirements

• Degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering or a related discipline.
• Minimum 8 years of relevant experience in building construction, preferably with an A1 Main Contractor.
• Proven experience in managing civil and structural works for large-scale building projects.
• Strong experience in structural works, including reinforced concrete, foundations, piling, excavation and related construction activities.
• Experience in Addition & Alteration (A&A), redevelopment, residential or complex building projects will be an advantage.
• Strong knowledge of structural drawings, specifications, construction methods and site execution.
• Familiar with Singapore building codes, regulations and relevant authority requirements.
• Good understanding of construction planning, sequencing, quality control and site coordination.
• Able to coordinate effectively with consultants, subcontractors, clients and internal project teams.
• Strong leadership, communication, problem-solving and decision-making skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office and relevant construction/design software.
• Able to work independently, lead a team and manage multiple project requirements in a fast-paced environment.
