Job summary

Ssangyong Engineering & Construction Co Ltd is seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager to lead a major hospital construction project in Singapore. You will oversee planning, delivery, multidisciplinary coordination, and cost control to meet contractual, technical, and regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities include leading project execution, coordinating with consultants and contractors, and ensuring quality, safety, and schedule adherence throughout the project lifecycle.

Qualifications

• Degree in Civil/Structural Engineering or related field.
• Minimum 10 years in construction project management, ideally with a main contractor.
• Proven experience delivering large-scale hospital or complex institutional projects.
• Experience with hospital, healthcare, or commercial building projects.
• Strong knowledge of planning, cost control, risk management and scheduling.
• Experience coordinating multidisciplinary teams and consultants.
• Good understanding of Singapore construction practices and regulations.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder-management skills.

Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager to lead and over see the overall delivery of a major hospital construction project in Singapore. The successful candidate will be responsible for project planning, construction management, multidisciplinary coordination, programme control, cost management, quality, safety and stakeholder coordination to ensure the project is delivered in accordance with contractual, technical and statutory requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the overall construction and delivery of the hospital project from planning through to completion.
• Develop and monitor project execution plans, construction programmes, milestones and project schedules.
• Manage and coordinate multidisciplinary teams including architectural, civil & structural, M&E and specialist contractors.
• Coordinate closely with consultants, subcontractors, suppliers, clients and relevant authorities on project matters.
• Monitor overall project progress against approved programme, budget, quality requirements and contractual obligations.
• Identify project risks, technical issues, construction constraints and potential delays, and implement appropriate mitigation measures.
• Review and coordinate design development, construction drawings, technical submissions, method statements and shop drawings.
• Lead project and technical coordination meetings and ensure timely follow-up of actions and decisions.
• Monitor subcontractor performance, work progress, resources and compliance with project requirements.
• Oversee project cost control, variation orders, claims and contractual matters in coordination with the commercial and contract teams.
• Ensure construction works comply with approved drawings, specifications, quality standards and relevant Singapore regulations.
• Establish and maintain effective quality management and inspection processes throughout the project.
• Work closely with the safety team to ensure compliance with workplace safety requirements and project safety objectives.
• Coordinate authority submissions, inspections, approvals and statutory requirements where applicable.
• Monitor manpower, material and equipment requirements to support the project programme.
• Review progress reports, project dashboards and management reports and provide regular updates to senior management.
• Manage client and consultant expectations and maintain effective working relationships with key project stakeholders.
• Lead the resolution of major construction, technical and interface issues.
• Ensure proper project documentation, records, correspondence and handover documentation are maintained.
• Oversee testing, commissioning, completion, defects rectification and handover activities.
• Provide leadership, direction and technical guidance to project managers, engineers, coordinators and site teams.
• Perform other duties related to project management and construction delivery as assigned by senior management.

Requirements

• Degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, Construction Management, Building or a related discipline.
• Minimum 10 years of relevant experience in construction project management, preferably with a main contractor.
• Proven experience managing large-scale building or complex institutional projects.
• Experience in hospital, healthcare, commercial or other complex building projects will be an advantage.
• Strong knowledge of construction planning, project management, contract administration, quality management and site coordination.
• Experience managing multidisciplinary construction teams and coordinating consultants, subcontractors and specialist contractors.
• Good understanding of Singapore construction practices, statutory requirements, relevant codes and standards.
• Strong knowledge of project scheduling, cost control, risk management and construction methodology.
• Experience in managing project variations, claims and contractual matters.
• Strong leadership, communication, negotiation and stakeholder-management skills.
• Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office and project management/scheduling software.
• Familiarity with BIM and digital construction coordination will be an advantage.
• Professional Engineer (PE), Accredited Professional or other relevant professional qualification will be an advantage.
• Able to lead a large project team and work effectively in a demanding construction environment.
