Job summary

DIRECT SEARCH ASIA PTE. LTD. seeks an HSE professional to coordinate safety across LNG projects, vessel operations and terminals. You will lead risk assessments, audits, and safety studies while maintaining the Safety Management System and facilitating LNG-transfer procedures.

Role requires strong communication with crews, authorities and multidisciplinary teams, plus willingness to travel for vessel and site visits as needed.

Qualifications

• Diploma/degree or recognised qualification in Nautical Studies, Marine, Safety, HSE or related discipline.
• Shore-based HSE and maritime safety experience preferred.
• Familiarity with safety-management systems and incident investigations.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate HSE activities during project development, commissioning and operational readiness.
• Support LNG vessel, terminal or FSRU-related safety and operational matters.
• Participate in HAZID, HAZOP, risk assessments and other safety studies.
• Monitor completion of actions from audits, inspections and risk reviews.
• Review and support Management of Change activities.
• Develop and review HSE policies, risk assessments and procedures.
• Ensure project-specific requirements are incorporated into the Safety Management System.
• Support procedures for LNG transfers, permits to work, isolation and emergency operations.
• Coordinate ship-shore safety and emergency-response arrangements.
• Plan and participate in emergency exercises and drills.
• Review incidents and near misses, support investigations and monitor corrective actions.
• Assist with vessel audits, inspections and readiness reviews.
• Support preparations for external inspections and marine-assurance requirements.
• Monitor HSE performance and prepare reports for management.
• Promote safety awareness through training, campaigns and lessons learned.
• Liaise with vessel teams, terminals, contractors, classification societies and authorities.

Job description

Key Responsibilities

• Coordinate HSE activities during project development, commissioning and operational readiness.
• Support LNG vessel, terminal or FSRU-related safety and operational matters.
• Participate in HAZID, HAZOP, risk assessments and other safety studies.
• Monitor the completion of actions arising from audits, inspections and risk reviews.

• Ensure project-specific requirements are appropriately incorporated into the Safety Management System.
• Support procedures covering LNG transfers, simultaneous operations, permits to work, isolation and emergency operations.
• Coordinate ship-shore safety and emergency-response arrangements.
• Plan and participate in emergency exercises and drills.
• Review incidents and near misses, support investigations and monitor corrective actions.
• Assist with vessel audits, inspections and operational-readiness reviews.
• Support preparations for external inspections and marine-assurance requirements.

Qualifications and Experience

• Diploma, degree or recognised professional qualification in Nautical Studies, Marine, Safety, HSE or a related discipline.
• Previous seagoing experience up to at least Second Officer level on any vessel type.
• Shore-based experience in HSE, marine safety, vessel operations or a related function.
• Good knowledge of safety-management systems, risk assessments and incident investigations.
• Experience participating in HAZID, HAZOP or similar safety studies would be advantageous.
• LNG carrier, FSRU, LNG terminal, gas-carrier or other high-hazard operational experience would be preferred.
• Familiarity with ISM, ISPS, SOLAS, MARPOL and relevant maritime regulations.
• Understanding of permit-to-work systems, emergency preparedness and Management of Change.
• Strong analytical, organisational and problem-solving capabilities.
• Effective communication and stakeholder-management skills.
• Able to work independently and collaborate across multidisciplinary teams.
• Willingness to travel and attend vessels, terminals or project sites when required.
