DIRECT SEARCH ASIA PTE. LTD. is seeking an experienced HSE Superintendent to support HSSEQ initiatives across LNG carriers and FSRU operations.

The role focuses on HSE management throughout project development, vessel commissioning, and fleet operations, ensuring compliance with maritime regulations and company SMS. You will coordinate HSE activities with Marine, Technical, Crewing and Operations teams, participate in risk assessments and incident investigations, and help implement continuous

Qualifications

  • Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Marine Engineering, Nautical Studies, Occupational Health & Safety, Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Certificate of Competency as Second Officer (LNG) is acceptable.
  • Minimum 2-5 years of relevant experience in LNG shipping, FSRU operations, ship management, offshore, or other high-hazard marine environments.
  • Practical knowledge of Safety Management Systems (ISM Code), risk assessment, incident investigation, and emergency response.
  • Experience participating in vessel audits, inspections, or safety studies is an advantage.
  • Familiarity with LNG cargo operations, operational safety, and marine regulatory requirements is preferred.
  • Strong communication, coordination, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Able to work independently and collaborate across multidisciplinary operational and project teams.
  • Seagoing experience onboard LNG carriers or FSRUs as a Second Officer or senior deck officer (preferred).
  • Exposure to vessel commissioning, operational readiness, or newbuilding projects (preferred).
  • Experience with OCIMF, SIRE, HAZID/HAZOP, or Management of Change processes is an advantage (preferred).

Overview

We are seeking an experienced HSE Superintendent to support Health, Safety, Security, Environment, and Quality (HSSEQ) initiatives across LNG carriers and FSRU operations. The role focuses on HSE management throughout project development, vessel commissioning, operational readiness, and fleet operations, while ensuring compliance with maritime regulations, industry standards, and company safety management systems.

Key Responsibilities
HSE Management & Operational Support
  • Coordinate HSE activities for LNG carrier and FSRU projects during pre-delivery, commissioning, operational readiness, and vessel operations.
  • Support the implementation and continuous improvement of the company's Safety Management System (SMS).
  • Work closely with Marine, Technical, Crewing, and Operations teams to integrate HSE requirements into daily operations.
Incident Management & Risk Control
  • Support incident reporting, investigations, root cause analysis, and follow-up of corrective actions.
  • Participate in risk assessments, Management of Change (MOC), HAZID, HAZOP, and other operational safety reviews.
  • Monitor HSE action items and ensure timely closure across projects and fleet operations.
Compliance & Assurance
  • Ensure compliance with applicable maritime regulations, flag state requirements, class requirements, and industry best practices.
  • Support vessel inspections, audits, vetting preparations, and operational readiness reviews.
  • Assist in maintaining HSE documentation, procedures, and compliance records.
Emergency Preparedness
  • Support emergency response planning, drills, and crisis preparedness exercises.
  • Review and coordinate ship-shore emergency response arrangements and communication procedures.
  • Assist in the development and review of project-specific emergency procedures and operational controls.
HSE Performance & Continuous Improvement
  • Monitor HSE performance trends and prepare reports for management review.
  • Support fleet-wide safety campaigns, lessons learned, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Promote a proactive safety culture across both shipboard and shore-based operations.
Requirements
